Our Story

History of 912 Walnut

Holly has always had an appreciation for the craftsmanship of older homes and 912 Walnut’s beauty simply caught her eye in October of 2021.  While driving by one day that November, Holly noticed that Marvin was struggling a bit to unload his lawn mower.  Holly’s sweet disposition and willingness to lend a helping hand developed into a conversation about the home and also a dream for Holly.  She persisted in getting a look at the home after the holidays had passed and was eager to purchase the home from the Holcer’s as soon as possible.  Holly and Willy officially acquired the home in December of 2022.

The planning and renovations began in January of 2023. A3G Architecture firm located in Liberty, Missouri, helped create the vision of the next chapter of 912 Walnut. Contractors began working on the structural elements of the home throughout the winter. After winter broke, the Ropp’s turned their focus to finishing the interior and addressing the unexpected hurdles due to the age of the home. Some of these projects included foundation repairs, all new electrical and plumbing, new framing, and extensive exterior updates as well.

Holly’s vision for the "The W" was to create a beautiful, welcoming space for many memorable events and milestones. She imagined brides walking down the mahogany staircase, families gathering for holidays, showers, and life’s many celebrations. The Ropp’s were able to achieve their goal of maintaining the integrity of the home by keeping much of the original trim, doors, fireplaces, lead glass and many other elements throughout the home. They also added their special touches and layers of elegant upgrades throughout the home, making it the perfect combination of an updated historical home.

On the main floor the functional flow remained mostly unchanged. The library now boasts a mini bar and a moody vibe that feels perfect to kick back and have a cocktail by the fire.  The kitchen shines with inset custom cabinetry, double ogee countertops, historic pendants, and the original exposed brick wall. The parlor and dining room flow seamlessly with the stunning crystal chandeliers, accent molding, and beautiful windows. It will be the perfect backdrop for large family meals, bridal showers, meetings and dinner parties. A his and hers powder bath were added to the main floor for convenience - as for homes built in this time period- there were none.

Moving up the beautiful staircase… the upstairs was opened up to allow for another full bathroom and improved functionality for guests. There are now four bedrooms, one operating as a master with a full en suite. Attached to the master suite is a multi- functioning room.  Make-up mirrors and built in seating allow for the ultimate bridal or special event prep and dressing space. It is easy to envision the mimosas and laughter that will fill this room.

The Next Chapter

“The W” plans to expand into the finished attic space in the future. The vision is to have a theater space, kid friendly sleeping arrangements and a game area.  The basement has also undergone extensive improvements.

Holly and Willy have big dreams for this space- but until the big reveal-cheers!
